Saturday I did a thing.

I did an UNHEARD OF thing! Even for me!!!

I was on a flight just HOURS after booking the trip!

Talk about a last-minute trip!!! WHEW chile!

AND IT WASN'T ABOUT A MAN EITHER!!!
Naht unh!

NO MA'AM PAM!! I took a ME-inspired ME trip and had a doggone GOODt time exploring a foreign land all by myself!

HOW DID THIS LAST-MINUTE TRIP COME ABOUT???

WELL! I'm glad you asked!

I booked this flight a year ago... LITERALLY a year ago TODAY and did not go on the trip for various reasons--various unmentionable reasons.

I thought the flight was scheduled to expire sometime in February as that was the date the trip was booked for last year. However, when I called FRIDAY, I was told the credit expired SUNDAY! That was TWO day later, friends! TWO DAYS!! I wasn't down for losing the $139 I spent on the ticket, so I had to get on it. Friends... I had to get on it even though I'd just MOVED alllllllllllllllllllll day long on Thursday. Friday, I was TIRED! I should have spent the day resting but I was the type of tired that just wouldn't let me sit down. I got much accomplished--for that, I am grateful, but I KNEEEEEWWW that night was guaranteeing some goodT goodT sleep!!! (Even if I needed to wake myself crazy early to catch this flight.)

Let me tell you how it happened...

I called. Flight expires. Two days. Find flights. Call back. Book flight.

For NEXT DAY!!!!

Yes, Friend! 'Twas a VERY very last-minute trip! (Did you think I was kidding??)

All of that was done from midday Friday until about 8p at night. I spent some time looking up activities going on that day. I googled some transportation and locations of various things I wanted to visit. To be honest with you, I had not a CLUE, honey! I knew I wanted to visit the volcano and that's about it!!! Outside of that, I was open, until.... HONEY! It's called THE BIG ISLAND for a reason! That thang is BIG! That said, I vowed to do enough to make myself proud, get myself acquainted and to say I did it.

I DID IT, Friends! I did it!

After arriving at the airport, I tried to reserve a car. They had been sold out for WEEKS, sooooooo... I took the bus everywhere I went for the whole day except for when I was on the plane. Another first for me!!! Woooo whooooooooooo!! (Because honey, I don't PLAY with them people's buses!!!)

I ended up a station that would get me to the correct bus to visit the volcano, yet I had to wait a couple hours for that business to arrive, SO!

I went sight seeing!!!

It was my first BLACK SAND BEACH!!!! Woooo whoooo!!!

And I played around a little, too, because DUH!

"Can you see my tongue?"

That was the text I sent to my mom and sister.

(It was hard to get the picture, too, I might add!)

These were easier...

I made it to the volcano!!! She's a bit smoky, ain'ta??

AND...

I ended the night at a music festival which the locals kept referring to as a block party. I mean...

Who DOESN'T love a good block party?? 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

All of that, and I made it back home in one piece!
